Just a Gross Pile of Cards
Our goal here is quite simple. Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools will provide us with repeatable card draw and sacrifice fodder, Jeska, Thrice Reborn has a loyalty ability to put triple the hurt on whoever we feel like, and Obosh, the Preypiercer has a fulfilled companion requirement so we can get access to it just when the time is right to make sure our target is going down this turn. In order to fulfill the companion requirement, the entire deck needs to consist of nothing but odd CMC cards, which is why you may find some strange choices and/or omissions in the decklist. Is it optimal? No. Is it worth it? Not really. It does, however, allow us a certain degree of smug satisfaction.
Other Combos
Standard Kiki/Conscripts infinite hasty creatures combo found in many red decks, along with a spicy tainted strike. With all of the big damage doublers, or triplers, in Jeska’s Case, Tainted Strike enables an easy “destroy target player” ability due to infect. It can also be used with Syr Konrad, the Grim alongside a boardwipe such as Blasphemous Act and enough creatures in play to kill the table.
Lifetotal Softeners
To make your damage-based win conditions a bit easier to pull off, we play some big, angry, often hasty creatures, perfect for swinging around in every combat step you can get. For general value and trying to overtake the board, we have some creatures such as Sepulchral Primordial, Balor & Ancient Brass Dragon. Some of our friends aren’t so fortunate to come with any haste of their own, so we’ll enlist some help from some enablers such as Boots of Speed & Rabbit Battery.
Parting Thoughts
Did this deck need to exist? No. Does it now exist? Yes. Go take it to a commander event or something and confuse people with your strange card selection needed to fulfill Obosh’s companion condition. If you give it a try, leave us a comment and let us know how it went! I certainly want to know.
Is it better to triple dmg then double or double then triple?
I think you’ll find either works about as well as the other 🙂
